Paraprofessional Studies with Paraprofessional Licensure

This revised program is comprised of coursework leading to an A.A.S. Degree in Paraprofessional Studies with licensure as a Paraprofessional and the previously approved Intervener Technical Certificate. This revised program will result in a career path with several options for students who enroll in and complete the Intervener Technical Certificate. This revised program will result in a career path with several options for students who enroll in and complete the Intervener coursework for the SSU issued Intervener Technical certificate. The previously approved Intervener Certificate program trains individuals, typically para-educators, to work with students who are deafblind or have dual-sensory needs. Professional pathways for the revised A.A.S. Degree in Paraprofessional Studies with Paraprofessional Licensure include completing the Shawnee State Intervener Technical Certificate, followed by completion of the A.A.S. Degree in Paraprofessional Studies with Paraprofessional Licensure, then going on to complete a Bachelor’s Degree with licensure in Intervention Specialist: Mid-Moderate, grades K-12, and finally completing one of the Low Incidence Collaborative Graduate licensure programs at SSU.
