ISPC 4300 - Global Food Security and Agricultural DevelopmentCredits: 3 This course examines issues and trends in international agriculture and rural development in low-income countries. Topics include world food demand/production forecasts, constraints to global food security, and controversies such as “high-input” vs. “sustainable” agriculture, the use of genetically-modified organisms for food production, and the efficacy of participatory approaches to rural development. *This is a core course option for the International Service and Peace Corps Preparation Program. Prereq: ISPC 2200 or Instructor Permission 3 lecture hours
