EDEC 1150 - Introduction to Early Childhood Education and Child DevelopmentCredits: 3 This course provides a general introduction to the area of Early Childhood Education and a survey of developmental processes that influence the growth of the physical, intellectual, and socio-emotional aspects of the child from conception through early childhood. Central to the course is identifying and learning how to respond to the needs of children from birth to age eight in inclusive settings that respect both cultural and linguistic diversity. Students gain an understanding of essential developmentally appropriate practices, characteristics, and needs of young children; high quality and effective resources to use with students; and the latest research in the field of Early Childhood Education. $
