CHEM 4431 - Physical Chemistry 1

An introduction to quantum mechanics. Topics include the Schrodinger equation, particle-in-a-box problems, harmonic oscillator, rigid rotor, approximation methods, hydrogen-like atoms, the helium atom, the hydrogen molecule ion, MO and SCF methods, an introduction to computational quantum chemistry, molecular spectroscopy, and chemical group theory.Prereq: CHEM 1141, MATH 2130, and PHYS 2202 or PHYS 22123 lecture hours
