Intervention specialists are professionals committed to providing quality special education services for students with and at risk for academic and behavioral challenges. To that end, the intervention specialist program at SSU prepares candidates to meet the needs of individuals with exceptionalities by providing a quality program that meets the high standards set by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Initial Preparation Standards.

As part of the School of Education’s clinical model of teacher preparation, pre-service teacher candidates engage in field experiences beginning in the freshman year and continuing throughout the four-year degree program. We are passionate about creating inclusive learning environments that capitalize on students’ strengths and are characterized more by the use of evidence-based practices.

As a graduate of Shawnee State’s Intervention Specialist degree and licensure program, you will be a well-qualified, sought after member of the education community.
