The Graduate Certificate in Composition and Rhetoric provides 19 credits of coursework in the discipline to working teachers who are seeking training to teach college-level composition courses.  The certficate is specifically designed for students who hold a Master’s degree (e.g., an M.Ed. or similar degree) but lack the graduate-level training necessary to teach dual credit courses (College Credit Plus) in their high schools. This certificate would allow them to complete those credits without completing an additional Master’s degree.

Like the M.A. in Composition and Rhetoric, the Graduate Certificate offers students courses in composition pedagogy, writing assessment, history of the discipline, and research methods.
