2024-2025 Course Catalog
Musical Theatre BFA

Return to: Degrees and Programs (Graduate and Undergraduate)
This program provides a solid foundation in vocal performance, acting and dance. It creates for the students a more thorough concentration in a performing arts discipline, rather than just a minor in music or theatre. The program also improves opportunities for students to become involved with the campus community and in the larger community. Performing Arts programs do this by their very nature. The BFA concentration in Music Theatre will allow our students to focus on a formalized area of study while they contribute to the world around them.
Auditions
Students MUST audition for admission to the program. Auditions occur in the spring of each year. New students will audition before entering their freshman year and must demonstrate talent, initiative, and potential for success.
Application and Audition Instructions
Learning outcomes:
- Display proficiency with core musical theatre skills including singing, dancing, acting, stagecraft, costumes, makeup, and direction.
- Demonstrate audition performance proficiency consistent with the requirements of professional employment or graduate program screening.
- Conceptualize, discuss, and critique artistic performance using discipline-specific terminology; utilize direction to improve performances.
