ETEC 1813 - Concepts of System IntegrationThis course provides both abstract high-level and concrete low-level perspectives of how microcomputer-based systems function to execute programs, store information, and communicate. Course content focuses upon how integrated and embedded platforms use operating systems and other systems software to make use of hardware and provide services. Topics covered may include microcomputer architecture, microprocessors, memory, command line interfaces, programming languages, operating systems and system configuration, input and output interfaces, and system organization. Lab activities will focus upon understanding, configuring, and using microcomputer systems through hands-on exercises related to configuring and using Unix/Linux and other systems relevant for use in integrated and embedded system platforms.
