ETCA 2401 - Computer Aided Mach/Mach ToolsIntroduction to machine tools, Computer Aided Machining (CAM) and (CNC). Intended for students with no prior experience in machining. The basics of metal chip-making technology as well as creation and editing of tool path geometry, display control, file manipulation, verification of data, and output of CNC code. Topics include safety, measurements, bench work, drilling, turning, shaping, planning, milling, and grinding. Properties and uses of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, cutting fluids, welding, foundry practices, CAM, CNC programming, and CNC machine tool operations. Laboratory experiences include chip-making process and tooling methods, manual and automated. CADD majors will update their multimedia portfolios to be completed in CADD Presentation 2.
