POLS 4310 - Critics of ModernityModern political thought is defined by its critics almost as much as its proponents. This course examines the critics of modernity, including those who critique modern attachments to individualism, equality, democracy, and capitalism. By examining writers like Rousseau, Marx, Nietzsche, and others, this course encourages students to critically reflect on liberal democracy and its critics to better understand the foundation of modern democratic theory and practice.
