EDAE 4433 - Teaching Science Grades 7-12An exploration of methods of teaching science to students at the high school level. Topics to be explored include planning inquiry lessons, understanding the nature of science and scientific inquiry and using technology in the classroom to meet the diverse needs of learners. Special emphasis will be given to the areas of earth, life, and physical science. The NSTA safety standards will be emphasized. All activities and planning will be in accordance with NSTA and the Ohio Academic Content Standards for Science Education. Candidates apply the knowledge and skills obtained from this course in a planned sequence of professional field experiences (150 hours) with young adolescents (ages 12-21) in a secondary school setting under the supervision of qualified university and school based faculty.
