Master of Education Curriculum and Instruction Alternative Licensure

Return to: Degrees and Programs (Graduate and Undergraduate)
The Masters of Education with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction with Alternative Licensure is a program that allows candidates to complete the requirements of the State of Ohio’s Alternative Resident Educator Program while also earning a Master of Education with a concentration in Curriuculum and Instruction. SSU School of Education is a state-approved Professional Development Institute (PDI). We have applied to be a provider for the Alternative Resident Educator Institute, which will require candidates to take masters-level courses. We have also applied to add masters-level courses to the PDI. Candidates who complete the AERI and PDI requirement with SSU will be able to count those 24 hours of graduate-level courses towards the MEd with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction because they are the same masters courses. There are no new courses to be added to the program. (Disclaimer: This program will not be possible if SSU School of Education is not approved for the AERI and additional PDI masters level courses. In order to meet the deadline to be presented to the Graduate Council and UFS, this proposal had to be submitted without having the AERI and PDI approved at the state level).
