Gaming and Simulation Development Arts BFA

Entertainment and serious gaming is a dynamic industry with multiple avenues for creative expression.  The work requires one to be sensitive to artistic trends and style as well as technically savvy.   The Game & Simulation Arts program has at its core a strong traditional foundation where the student is then provided avenues for study in high-end digital 3D graphics.  Students in the BFA program work with students in the BS in Digital Simulation & Game Engineering to produce their final senior capstone project.

A student who has successfully completed a degree in Game & Simulation Arts may have career opportunities, or further study, in areas which include:

  • 3D Animator
  • 3D Character Artist
  • 3D Environmental Artist
  • Graphical Interface Designer
  • Game Designer
  • Technical Artist/Director
  • Texture Artist
  • Creature Rigger
  • Virtual Lighting Artist

Concentration Requirements


General Education Program 27 Hours
     MATH 2110 and PHYS 2211 satisfy the Quantitative Reasoning and Natural Sciences components, respectively.

Art Core Requirements  30 Hours
     Students must take the ARTG Senior Studio courses instead of ARTS. 15 Hours
Art Studio Concentration 18 Hours
Digital 3D 17 Hours
Supporting Courses 12 Hours
Art Gaming Electives  6 Hours
General Electives Chosen from courses other than ARTX
