EDRE 4485 - Prac/Sem:Read Instru/Eval/IntervCredits: 3-6 Field-based practicum with a seminar component to explore topics introduced in EDRE 2202, EDRE 2242, EDRE 3305, EDRE 4406, EDRE 4407 and ENGL 3300 or ENGL 3323. The practicum provides students the opportunity to apply skills and knowledge gained in the aforementioned courses in the setting to which they will be applied once Reading Endorsement is attained. The focus of this course is on the implementation of assessment methods, instructional strategies, remedial/corrective strategies, and IRP (Individual Reading Plan) design in the appropriate classroom environment. Discussion of current trends in reading research and issues as well as the creation of a required Reading Portfolio will extend this experience during seminar. University supervision by an instructor who holds current credentials in the area of reading and/or literacy will provide appropriate support and guidance. Prereq: EDRE 2202, EDRE 2204, EDRE 3305, EDRE 4406, EDRE 4407, and ENGL 3300 OR ENGL 3323, and admission in Level 4 Teacher Ed., OR current teacher licensure.
