About the program:
The four-year degree with a major in Information Security is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of Information Technology and Information Security. Graduates of this program will find employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors, locally and around the world. The Information Security program is designed to teach the student concepts and theories and then provide students an opportunity to apply their training when working with local and national businesses and organizations. Students will spend a substantial amount of time learning to use technology to solve specific Information Technology and Information Security problems. The degree can be completed as a stand-alone degree or as a 2+2 program with the Associate of Applied Technical Studies degree in Information Security See your advisor for more information.

It provides the technical knowledge and skills needed to be successful in Information Technology and Information Security. Employers look favorably upon potential employees with backgrounds in both technology and business and there is an opportunity to get a business minor. While not required many businesses think it is useful that the student be able to view information security from the perspective of business and organizational needs. Information Security and a background in business provides students with the opportunity to pursue both technical and managerial careers in organizations that incorporate leading edge technologies. Additionally, a firm background in business as well as Information Security provides those students interested in starting their own businesses the knowledge and tools necessary to be successful in the endeavor.
