Social Science/Legal Assisting (2+2) BA

2+2 for Students Who Complete the Legal Assisting Program

This program is designed for students who have completed the associate degree in legal assisting at Shawnee State University and who wish to pursue a baccalaureate degree.

Degree Requirements

Completion of Legal Assisting Program 61 Hours
First Year Experience: University Foundations 1 Hour
Additional General Education Program 22 Hours
Social Science Major 39 Hours
   
Total Hours Required 123 Hours

 

Legal Assisting Program (61 Hours)

Includes 18 hours of the General Education Program (GEP).  For a list of all the required courses for the Legal Assisting Associate Degree Program, please refer to the Legal Assisting Technology, AAB  program—or contact the dean of the College of Professional Studies for more information.

First Year Experience: University Foundations

Complete the following course:

Additional General Education Program (22 Hours)

Includes the GEP courses that have not already been taken within the Legal Assisting Associate Degree Program.  Please see your advisor or check the General Education Program Requirements by Content Category  to see the lists of courses available.

Social Science Major (Minimum of 39 Hours)

Introductory Social Science Course (9 Hours)

Complete the following three courses:

Economics (3 Hours)

Select one of the following courses:

Upper Division Social Science Courses (Minimum of 24 Hours)

In consultation with your faculty advisor, select a total of 8 courses (24 credit hours) from any Social Science courses at the 3000 level or above*.  You may choose any combination of disciplines that you wish.  The one restriction is that you may not count more than 9 hours from any specific discipline as contributing to this requirement.  Social Science disciplines are as follows:

  • Anthropology (ANTH)
  • Economics (ECON)
  • Geography (GEOG)
  • History (HIST)
  • Political Science (POLS)
  • Psychology (PSYC)
  • Sociology (SOCI)
  • Social Science (SOSC)

*If you take ECON 2201 for your Economics core requirement, you may count ECON 2202 as an upper-division ECON course.  If you take ECON 2202 for you Economics core requirement, you may count ECON 2201 as an upper-division ECON course.
