Painting BFA

Painting is a core art discipline with a rich history. Preparation for figurative and non-figurative work is encouraged within this program. The development of a coherent portfolio of work is crucial to success. Our third floor Waller Painting Suite has 25-foot high north facing windows and an additional outdoor area for good-weather painting. 

This studio concentration prepares students for graduate programs and studio entrepreneurship. This program is designed to bring the student to a high level of aesthetic theory, devleopment process and technical skill in their focused studio area.

A student who has successfully completed a degree in Painting may have career opportunities, or further study, in areas which include:

  • Studio Artist
  • Illustrator
  • Portrait Artist
  • Museum Conservator
  • Gallery Conservator
  • Painting Restoration
  • Museum Curator
  • Gallery Curator

 

Concentration Requirements


General Education Program 34 Hours

Art Core Requirements  30 Hours
Art Studio Concentration 30 Hours
Art Studio Electives Choose ARTS or 24 Hours
  ARTG outside your concentration.  
General Electives Chosen from courses other than ARTX. 6 Hours
