BIOL 3251 - Summer Flora Taxonomy

An introduction to the principles of plant taxonomy with emphasis on recognition and identification of summer-flowering plants of east-central United States.  Students are assisted in learning to recognize major vascular plant families by their distinguishing characteristics.  The collection, identification, and preservation of plant materials are practiced skills.  In addition to species recognition, major emphasis will be placed on helping students develop the ability to recognize and apply plant family characteristics.
