ECSE 4490 - Directed Teaching and Student Teaching Seminar

Credits: 10
This course is a cumulative experience of at least 15 weeks - 450 hours, fulfilling a clinical model student teaching experience.  Teacher candidates will work with children of varying abilities in inclusive settings within the early childhood age/grade levels. Teacher candidates work with both students with and without disabilities. An experienced classroom teacher and university faculty supervises this experience. A student teaching seminar accompanies this course. Scheduled seminar sessions are both topical and process-oriented, focusing on professional issues and standards related to early childhood, early childhood special education and the profession of teaching (NAEYC, IDA, OSTP, CEC). Development of a professional portfolio is an element of the seminar. Teacher candidates also complete an Action research-based project in their classrooms. Clinical Hours: 450 Prereq: Admission to Senior Year Experience/Methods course block. All ECSE 4000-level courses. Coreq: ECSE 4386 lecture hours 1 Course/Lab Fee $
