Clark Memorial Library

Clark Memorial Library serves all members of the Shawnee State University community. Opened in 1991, the library prides itself on being the students’ space by providing spaces for students to study or relax. The library has group study rooms, equipped with large screen monitors and whiteboards. Laptop and desktop computers are available along with scanning and printing services. The library teamed with the Student Government Association to provide a hybrid study space known as the Bear Cave. The Bear Cave provides access to desktop computers, a printer and laptop charging stations and is open 24 x 7 while classes are in session. Classrooms and lecture halls are also available in the library for university courses, library instruction, and events. For convenience, the Writing Center and Information Technology Services (ITS) are both located on the lower level of the library.

The library provides access to array of print and electronic resources; including databases (https://shawneesu.libguides.com/az.php), and electronic books and journals. Library staff provide reference services in-person and virtually. Librarians are available for both research consultations and instruction. Information literacy instruction is a high priority for librarians. The goal is that students learn a nuanced approach to working with information, and feel confident evaluating resources. In addition to developing traditional research skills, they learn about the reflective and responsible use and production of information.

Clark Memorial Library supports the mission of the university helping students during their time at Shawnee State University by supporting their academic endeavors, and contributing to their academic success.
